Glitter, Foil & Paper Lace - Oh My!

Did you get a chance to make some good old-fashioned Valentine cards this year? My daughter Savannah brought home some adorable ones. They brought back good memories of when I was a little girl. The tin foil and glitter box made we want to make my own! I guess it's time to pull out the glitter....

Meet the Vamplets....

My daughter, Savannah, has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of her new Vamplets, and when the shipment was delayed because of "adverse weather conditions", I knew I had to step in. So, I decided to make her a necklace. It is made from Shrinky Dinks. I have not played with shrinky dinks for years. I think it turned out pretty cute -- we had fun -- and it bought us another day. (Did I mention I'm buying my daughter baby vampires? This is not how I dreamed things would be....what happened to Drowsy or even Barbie? -- Monster High has taken over!)

NOW

My Word for the Year...

In keeping with my Word of Year, I created this altered photo NOW instead of later.

The supposed object of picking a Word of the Year is to help avoid the creation of all those New Year's resolutions that many of us tend to forget about by February.  But, it is not in my nature.  I am a habitual list maker and I actually enjoy dreaming up goals and resolutions.  When a new year comes around, I look back at my resolutions and I've usually made progress -- not as much as I would have liked -- but hey, this leaves room for more dreaming and planning in the New Year, right?

So this year my word is "NOW".  I have trouble being in the moment, as I am always thinking about something else.  Also, I am a procrastinator, especially of doing the things I enjoy.  I always think something else "more important" needs done.

I read somewhere that someone made herself an altered watch that simply said, NOW, and every time she looked at it, it reminded her to stay in the moment or to take action now.  I think that I will make myself one.

YUMMY!
My Junk Hunk found this scrumptious box of old printer press letters.  Of course I snatched them up.  He probably doesn't know yet, until he reads this post :-) -- Thanks Hon!
